Jose Mourinho admits he is unhappy over the fixture schedule that sees Manchester United play Everton on Tuesday and says he is struggling for “options”.

The Red Devils will have to play nine games in April, including a Europa League quarter-final and Premier League fixtures against neighbours Manchester City and leaders Chelsea.

Off the back of their 0-0 draw with West Brom on Saturday, Mourinho’s men host Ronald Koeman’s Toffees on Tuesday with only two days rest and the Portuguese boss isn’t happy.

“It’s such a small squad, I cannot be happy to play in two days without options,” Mourinho said.

“I’m happy to play every game but, in this moment, I’m without options.

“Many people, especially in some positions, cannot play and I would prefer to give a little rest to brave guys like Antonio [Valencia] and Eric [Bailly], who were playing for the national teams and travelling here to come to play again.
